Located in front of the Place de la Savane in Fort-de-France, the Impératrice Hotel was built in a liner-style building in the 1950s. Its founder, Charles Glaudon, who was on a cruise in Martinique, wondered about the lack of accommodation for travelers in Fort-de-France. He returned to the island with the idea of creating a hotel near his pharmacy.
The elegant style and Creole authenticity of the Empress Hotel have been preserved over the years. It was renovated in 2009.
This luxurious hotel has 19 rooms spread over 5 floors in a family home atmosphere. The Creole style is visible in every corner with Creole furniture and mahogany-colored floors.
4 types of rooms are offered:
- 5 standard rooms of 12 square meters with a double bed and a view of the inner courtyard or the city's rooftops.
- 5 comfort rooms of 15 square meters that can accommodate up to 2 people, equipped with a king size bed with a view on the Parc de la Savane.
- 8 superior rooms of 17 square meters equipped with either a double bed, a king size bed or twin beds and a spacious bathroom where you can admire the Savannah Park, the Fort-Saint-Louis or the Baie des Flamands.
- 1 family room of 22 square meters that can accommodate up to 4 people. It has two double beds.
The establishment has a cozy café with a colonial decor and a terrace and a restaurant "Le Joséphine" where the chef Catherine Naud prepares various Martinique dishes. It is open every day except Sunday.
A bar located on the first floor will welcome you in a tropical atmosphere for relaxing moments. A small private lounge can be reserved for business meetings.
