Ilet à Aigrettes

Îlet à Aigrettes is an uninhabited islet on the Sainte-Anne peninsula in Martinique. Completely flat, it is located near Pointe Coton and extends over 200 meters in length. It is an islet of volcanic origin.

It owes its name to the colonies of seabirds and egrets that nest here daily. Aigrettes means egrets in French.

Like several islets in the commune of Sainte-Anne, the îlet à Aigrettes is part of the Sainte-Anne islets nature reserve. It is an important nesting area for seabirds.

It is possible to get close to the Îlet à Aigrettes without actually visiting it. Taxi-Cap offers excursions to the Baie des Anglais and the islets of Sainte-Anne. During this walk, you can observe several colonies of migratory seabirds.

Among the birds you'll see are the Bridled Tern and the Sooty Tern.
